Men’s Basketball Team’s European Tour — Rematch

posted in Athletics, Men's Basketball

Our final day here in Europe was a great way to end the tour. We got to sleep in until noon and then departed to take a quick look at the Atomium, Brussels exhibit for the 1958 World’s Fair. Just like at many other major structures, we took several pictures as a team. We then moved on to our final game, a rematch against the U20 Belgium National Team.

We only had five healthy players, but we still played an entire 40-minute game. It took a very inspiring effort, but we ended up winning the game 92-89. After a rough start down 19-9 during the first five minutes, we found energy and quickly tied up the game. We took a 10-point lead going into halftime and played well enough to win the game. It was a lot of fun to watch Seth, Rob, Les, Dan, and Levi fight through the fatigue and find a way to win.

When the game was over, we ate at the gym cafeteria as we have done after every game in Europe. We returned to the bus and came back to the hotel, where we had the rest of the night to pack, eat, and get ready for our flight home tomorrow.

We have a 6:30 a.m. wake-up tomorrow morning for our 10:40 a.m. flight. After flying for approximately 8.5 hours, we will be back in Philadelphia and only a bus ride away from Lafayette.
